The Country Getaway

I must admit, I crave country getaways! I love getting away from the hustle and bustle and slowing down even if it is just for a few nights. It is a must to re-charge the batteries.

I have been lucky enough these past few weeks to visit one of my favourite places ~ Daylesford  not once but twice! one for a girls weekend, and the other with my husband for our wedding anniversary.

Daylesford has a special spot in my heart, it is where my husband proposed to me and over the years we have had so many memorable weekends there.

So what did we do when we went there for our wedding anniversary?  Well with our two kids being minded for the weekend, we made the most of just chilling out completely.

We had the most amazing degustation at one of our absolute favourites Lake house restaurant

I do suggest doing this for a lunch as you do obviously get a lot of tastings with this option. We also decided to get the matching wines. Yummy!! everything we had was delicious!

That night we were so full still from our lunch, so popped into The perfect drop a charming bistro/ wine bar, and had a couple of starters to share and more wine of course! (yup making the most of being kid free 🙂

The next day unbeknown to me, my husband surprised me with a day out for the two us at The mineral spa where  we spent a few blissful hours having a relaxation massage followed by a bath in the mineral spa. The mineral spa is located within the grounds of the historic boutique hotel peppers Mineral spa Hotel, they offer a wide range of luxury accommodation options. I am a sucker for gorgeous interiors. This hotel has the original beauty and feel from its art deco era.

Other places I highly recommend visiting for yummy food and drinks are Belvedere Social, they do the most incredible cocktails and great food with a french influence. The farmers arms a great local pub with its original charm and Mercato a stylish cottage restaurant serving fresh, seasonal produce.

I love getting a bit exercise in too, so a must place, besides the obvious lake Dayelsford to go for a walk is Wombat hill botanical gardens its set high up on the hill and has the most amazing views.

To visit Dayelford in Autumn is just spectacular, the colours of the leaves and the slight coldness in the air is just perfect. Perfect for that romantic getaway!!

Love always,

Emily X
